Save and share your exact locationWhether you're meeting up with friends or want to remember where you parked your car, Google Maps on your smartphone can be a lifesaver.
-There are maybe times when it would be really convenient to know you exact location and share with friends. What if you're stranded on the highway and need a friend to pick up or maybe you're in a huge parking lot and want to remember exactly where you park. I'm Sharon Vaknin for CNET.com, and today, I'll show you how to save and share you're exact location. The best part of this tip is that you don't need to install any extra apps to do it. Head to Google maps and tap the current location button. Accuracy will depend on your phone and cell coverage, but the marker will usually be within about 100 feet of your actually longitude and latitude. Once you got your current location, tap the marker and select share location if you're using an iPhone. On android, you will see some location to friends instead. Either way, you can no e-mail or text the location to your friends. When they receive your text and select the location, Google Maps will open on their phones and they will be able to see exactly where you are. Now, it's up to them to decide if they wanna can pick you have. If you wanna save the location, simply add it to your bookmarks or send it in a text or e-mail it to yourself. Applications like Google latitude also offer location sharing, but they do so with real time tracking, maybe it's just me, but that's a little too creepy for my list. For CNET.com, I'm Sharon Vaknin.
