CNET First Look
Samsung Chrono (U.S Cellular)Great call quality and a rock-bottom price make the Samsung Chrono a bargain for those who want just the essentials.
-Hey everyone, I'm Jessica Dolcourt for CNET. Today, I'm taking a first look at the Samsung Chrono. This is a new phone for US cellular. Now, I'm pretty sure that Samsung used a cookie cutter shaped like a flip phone when they were designer this because it looks a lot like every other Samsung flip phone you've ever seen. It's got that same 1.7-inch external display, a camera up here. This one happens to be VGA then it also has this telltale large hinge up here, which is really sturdy. There are also these large keys on the front and a 2-inch screen. All these are pretty typical in Samsung flip phones. But now, I actually have to stop picking on our friends in Samsung because call quality on the Chrono is remarkably clear. It was really good for both sides and that's not something you see on every basic flip phone. It's something you should see though. Features-wise, this is not an exciting phone. There are all of the basics inside like organizer tools, Bluetooth, calculator, a calendar, and of course text, and multimedia messaging. Another area where the Chrono earns points is on price. It costs just 1 penny if you buy on contract or just $20 if you buy it prepaid. So, if you're not concerned about your phone doing much else other than making phone calls, you could take just $20 in your pocket and run out and get this phone.
