Samsung Book 9 2014 EditionA slim 15-inch premium laptop with a quiet keyboard
I'm Dan Ackerman, here with one of Samsung's big announcements from CES 2014. It is the Book 9 2014 edition laptop. This is, of course, a big brother to the 13-inch Book 9 Plus and Book 9 Lite that we saw last year. For this bigger version, there are a couple of improvements. The Samsung has a full HD screen here, but it's got an antireflective coating. So it's not quite as glossy as some non-matte screens that you see. So that's always nice. They work on the keyboard a lot. This thing has got kind of a soft touch finish. It's very quiet when you type on it, and I think that if you have a bigger 15-inch laptop like this, you need a keyboard that's not gonna clank all day and drive you crazy. They've also got some new hardware audio-wise inside that's gonna help you play back lossless files. Why would you wanna do that? Well, they sound better than compressed MP3s. They're hard to find, but Samsung is gonna add streaming lossless to its Samsung Hub service. So if you can buy that with this, whether through the speakers or through the audio output into your headphones, you should be able to get a much better audio experience. Samsung is aiming at the premium end of the mark with this laptop, so it's gonna be Intel Core i5, Core i7, SSD drives only, and you should see it at a premium price point, somewhere in there, in the first half of 2014.
