NuForce HP-800 headphones: Big sound, affordable price
Hi, I'm David Carnoy, Executive Editor for CNET.com and I'm here with the NuForce HP-800 studio monitor headphones.
These are a full-size headphone and they're obviously a rather large full-size headphone, not necessarily designed for mobile use, so they can't be used with a mobile device.
However most people will use these in the home.
They do come with 2 cords.
They come with a thicker cord that's cloth-covered as well as a slim
cord that can be used with mobile phones.
Well these are large headphones and certainly not light.
We did think they were comfortable.
They have nicely padded ear cups, and the headband does adjust nicely.
In terms of build quality, they do seem sturdy and these ear cups, at least the outer portion, are made of metal which is nice.
These headphones cost $150 which puts them right in line with the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 headphones which are among our favorite studio headphones, and these offer a little bit more in the way of
base, not quite as much definition and clarity, but they offer more base.
We still like the ATH-M50 sound slightly better, but if you are a base lover, these will certainly satisfy you a little bit more.
So all in all, a very good headphone for the money.
You're not gonna find too much better sound for $150, but obviously it's a bigger headphone.
It's not gonna be for everyone, but if you are looking for a studio monitor style headphone, this model is certainly worth considering.
I'm David Carnoy and that's the NuForce HP-800 headphone.
Thanks for watching.
