Tap That App
Never miss a concertUse Android apps OnTour and JamBase to stay updated on tour dates of your favorite bands and musicians.
If you like music like I do, you???re probably pretty stoked about the summer concert season. This week we???ll show off two free Android apps to help all you concert lovers out there make the most out of your musical journey. The first app we???re gonna cover is OnTour. On Tour lets you track concerts and tour dates of your favorite artists and look up band profiles. You can swipe left and right to switch between different upcoming events, artist info, and recommendations. The app will generate a list of bands you might like based on your stored music. Syncing up your Last.fm account will create an even more personalized list of artists that you might enjoy. You can also check Venues to see who???s playing at the closest concert hall. Navigating through the app is really fluid, and I also like the subtle color scheme to give it that slick ICS- type of feel. The larger font also makes it really easy to read and to quickly look up info, which is important on a mobilbe device. Now, if you???re looking for something more localized or in the neighborhood, then I actually recommend another app called JamBase. JamBase is another useful app for tracking artists, but it???s biggest advantage is in finding performances specifically in your neighborhood. Though the interface is not as swipe friendly as onTour, JamBase really shines when it comes to quickly scheduling concerts on your calendar. When you find a show that you like, simply tap the calendar icon and JamBase will lay out tour dates in a custom calendar for easy viewing. You can also learn more about each concert by tapping on a tour date. From there, you can buy tickets directly or follow the artist for more upcoming shows. While OnTour currently remains Android exclusive, jamBase is available on both the Google Play Store and the iTunes appstore. That???s it for today on Tap That app. If you???ve got any more apps you???d like repped, shoot us an email at Tapthatapp@cnet.com. Thanks for watching and we???ll catch you next week.
