Would you want a smartphone with a curved screen? I'm Bridget Carey and this is your CNET Update. CNET has learned that LG is working on a smartphone with a curved 6-inch display. LG did show off flexible screen technology earlier this year. LG will likely call the phone, the G Flex. But even though it's called the Flex, don't count on this phone being flexible. That screen will be set in a fixed position. Here's a rough sketch CNET obtains so you can tell it would be a slight curve. We're expecting LG to reveal this phone in November and this comes while there's buzz about Samsung working on its own curved smartphone that would also be unveiled soon. But the curved screen trend doesn't stop at smartphones. Both Samsung and LG had been pushing curved OLED televisions in the US costing $9,000 and $10,000 respectively. Samsung's Home Sync is going on sale Sunday and this media center for the living room is sort of like an Apple TV, but it has one terabyte of internal storage for media and it's controlled by Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The $300 glossy black box lets Galaxy users stream videos, games, music and other media from a phone or tablet to the television. It works with Samsung Link, that's a program for sharing content between devices. Up to 8 accounts can be synced to the box and it also works with several apps like YouTube and the Google Play store and it has a web browser. Those that buy can get $50 of credit to spend on movies and TV shows from the Samsung Media Hub. Also coming Sunday, Target will launch its own brand of prepaid mobile services called Brightspot and it will run on T-Mobile's network. Walmart has also been selling its own prepaid plans under the brands Straight Talk. As the competition heats up between music streaming services, Rdio is trying to stay fresh by offering a new free feature called Stations. You can listen to music from 20 predefined stations built on songs from different musicians and you can also create your own stations just like Pandora and iTunes radio. To lure in more users, Rdio won't play commercials like the other guys, but if you wanna pick the exact songs that you want to listen to, it'll cost you $10 a month. This new feature is now on iOS and android. And now also in music news, there's a report from myGadget that Google's music app could be coming to iOS later this month. The app Google Play Music all access cost $10 a month and it's a way to listen to unlimited songs and create custom radio stations, but the free version serves as a locker for your music.
