Laptop Buying Guide - Part 3
-Now, I'm gonna give a you chip sheet on some of the components inside your laptop.
The most important is the CPU.
If you get an ultraportable or other low cost laptop, you probably have an Intel Core i3 or maybe an AMD A5 or A10 chip in it that's perfect for everyday use you're doing.
You really don't need to get anything more powerful.
If you have a midsize laptop or power 13-inch laptop, you probably have an Intel Core i5, great mainstream chip.
If you want something more powerful, let's say the desktop replacement or a bulky 15-inch laptop, then you're gonna look for an Intel Core i7,
and if you pair that with discrete graphics card you'll be great for playing the latest games even at high resolutions and any of these chips will able to play HD video whether you're playing it natively or you're streaming it online.
Then, there's your hard drive.
There are 2 basic types of hard drive.
There is your traditional platter spinning hard drive.
You'll usually get a 500 gigabyte or 750 gigabyte drive even in expensive laptop, but they're kind of bulky.
They generate heat.
They have moving parts and they can break down.
More expensive are SSD hard drive.
That's where you're gonna find a MacBook Air and a lot of Ultrabooks.
It's very similar to the solid state card that comes in your digital camera or that's in your phone or other portable media player right now.
A lot of those are only 128 GB that's not a lot of room.
If you spend more, you can get a 256, but the price is gonna really add up on those.
