Father's Day with a tech twistUse technology this Father's Day to give dad a memorable experience -- ideally an outing he can take with the whole family. In this Tech Minute, CNET's Kara Tsuboi suggests some original Father's Day gift ideas.
[MUSIC] If your dad is the adventurous type, spend the day on a scavenger hunt to explore your city. Get started with the stray boots app available for free for both iPhones and Androids. Once inside the app choose your location and tour. Once you purchase a tour, averaging about $12 per participant, the Apple guide you through a series of fun clues, riddles and challenges. The biggest reward at the end is a cool experience that dad will remember for years to come. If dad is a foodie, download the free iPhone and android app Chef Feed to see where well known chefs like to eat in your city. Plan a day noshing around town nibbling the beloved dishes and drinking the favorite drinks of celebrity chefs. Finally, if dad's a golfer he'll love the new Golfshot app. Spend a day with him on the course, and he'll immediately benefit from the basic features like measuring the distance to the hole, and 3D maps of over 40,000 courses world wide. For $30 a year the in app upgrade to the pro level will offer personalized club recommendations. In San Francisco, I'm Kara Tsuboi, Cnet.com for CBS News.
