The Take Classic is an update of the earlier Energy set known as the Take Five. The current version is almost identical it's a compact 5.1 speaker system. The 4 satellite speakers are only about 7 by 4 inches but include a 3 inch midrange driver and a 3/4 inch tweeter behind the removable speaker grill. The center speaker's a bit larger but utilizes the same basic design. Base is handled by the 20 pound 200 watt subwoofer which offers an 8 inch down firing woofer. The system's overall design is above average with 5 way binding post connections on the speakers and a nice black laminate finish on the surface. The tiny speakers are wall mountable as well. Despite their relatively small size the Energy speakers deliver phenomenal performance and sound quality. The speakers offer clear and naturally balanced sound on movies and music with subtle detail very much in evidence. The subwoofer delivers punchy lows with full-body definition some of the best we've heard from a sub that's this compact. Best of all the Energy Take Classic system is available for only $600 that's about 40% less than what we'd expect to pay for a surround speaker system of this caliber. That combination of excellent sound quality and great value makes the Energy Take Classic an easy pick for Editor's Choice in the home audio category.
