Tap That App
Do the Tango! We'll showcase the video conferencing app that works between Android and iOS devices and offers the best video quality out there.
Hey guys. Welcome to Tap That App. I'm Brian Tong and this is the show where we cover the hottest apps in the mobile space. Now we've showcased video conferencing apps before, but the landscape is always changing and there's a new player in town called Tango. The app is free and it's available for both Android and iOS devices. What makes it unique is that it works over 3G, 4G, and Wi-Fi networks for voice and video conferencing, and it works cross platform with friends using different phones. Now if you're annoyed that you can only use Face Time with an iPhone 4 or a Touch strictly over Wi-Fi, then this is a great solution. You might be thinking, "Well, Fring can do the same thing, and it has instant messaging as well," and you're right but from my experience, right now, you'll get the best video quality results with Tango. Now, Tango requires minimal setup and it also uses your address book to find contacts. One hassle is that I could not just send a direct request to someone who wasn't in my phone's address book. I actually had to add them to the address book first. Now, once they're added, you can initiate the call and then initiate the video conference by pressing the Tango button. Some Android phones, by default, are using the rear camera instead of the front-facing one and that's because there are different flavors of the OS so you might not have the icon available to switch the camera. But performance is obviously the best over Wi-Fi and audio was solid as well. Audio quality varies with different phones so plugging in your headphones is probably your best bet with these apps as well. If you're looking for a video conferencing app that has the best quality to date, works over any high-speed data connection, and it allows you to talk to both iPhones and Android phones, then you should do the Tango. Now, if you guys have any other apps or dance moves you like to see, send us along an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org . I'm Brian Tong, thanks for watching, and we'll see you guys next time.
