>> [Background Music] Hi, I'm Josh Goldman, Senior Editor for CNET Reviews and this is a look at the Cannon PowerShot SX210IS. It's a 14 megapixel camera with a 28 millimeter equivalent wide-angle lens, 14X zoom, and it's available in black, purple, and gold versions. On back is a 3 inch wide screen LCD but unless you're shooting photos with a 16.9 resolution, you only get about two and a half inches of the screen for framing shots. The camera is nice and compact for its features but like its predecessor, the SX200, Cannon makes the flash pop up every time you start the camera. But at least this time you can push it down and it will stay down. If you're going to use the flash though, the camera is very awkward to hold because you don't really have anywhere to put your fingers. This model is part of Cannon's advanced PowerShot lineup. And no, it doesn't have some of the newer features found on competing models such as built-in GPS for geotagging or high-speed shooting. It does have a very good set of manual controls for adjusting the shutter speed and aperture, as well as color, contrast, sharpness, and flash output. It also captures 720PHD quality movies and you get used to the zoom lens while recording. And there's a stereo mic on top too; plus you get a button on back for quickly starting and stopping recording. Shooting performance is averaging towards slow with a noticeable shutter lag and a three and a half second shot-to-shot time. Photo quality is generally very good but occasionally, photos will look a little over processed in digital. Low light picture quality is pretty good too as long as you're not intending to make large prints. I'm Josh Goldman and that's a look at the Cannon PowerShot SX210IS.
