C is for cheap new smart bulbs from GEGE's newest LEDs automatically change tones to help you get a better night's sleep -- and they're a lot more affordable than you might expect.
[MUSIC] Smart bulbs are great, but a lot of times you need to have a hub installed or know what Zigbee means. If you don't want any of that, GE has a bulb it thinks you might like. It's actually two bulbs, the GE Sleep bulb and the GE life bulb, They're both part of the C by GE series and these are designed to be really cheap, and also really easy to use. They use bluetooth to connect to your phone directly, so you don't need a hub, and you don't need to know what ZigBee or Z-wave or any of that stuff is. Now the GE life LED is a lot like GE old smart bulb, you can Turn on-off, or dim it up and down on your phone, pretty basic stuff. Now the sleep LED is a little bit more interesting, it's got the color tune ability feature that we like in a lot of modern lights. So when I first **** it in, I get this bright blue daylight that's good for the morning when you're trying to wake up, but I can also tone it down during the day and it is nice warm kind of candle light glow. Another cool thing is that you can set that color temperature Change automatically using this Follow the Sun feature. You can set the times in the in the app so that it'll change from that orange light in the evening to a nice hot daylight in the morning to help you wake up. The catch is that you have to be within Bluetooth's range for those changes to work. And that really is the larger catch with these bulbs. and generally you do have to To be within Bluetooth range to use them. They're not a hub or any platform right now that supports them to extend that coverage to outside the homes. Still the price is pretty good for these bulbs. You get four of them for $50. That's two sleep and two life bulbs in that starter kit. I like that an awful lot. That's kind of the sweet spot where smart bulbs should be aiming for. I just want the features to get there as well.
