CNET First Look
Belkin N+ Wireless RouterThe Belkin N+ Wireless Router is a great performer with excellent range and throughput speed. If its bulky design and lack of 5GHz frequency support don't put you off, the router is worth every penny of its $100 or so price tag.
[ music ] ^M00:00:04 >> Dong: Hello, this is Dong Ngo for CNET.com and I have with me today possibly the best router I've reviewed this year, the N+ from Belkin. First off, I really love the name it's simple, easy to say, and to the point, N+. While this a wireless end router and is offering a lot of end performance, which is the plus part; there's also a minus part though, the router doesn't support dual band it works only in 2 point 4GH frequency. While first, let's take a look at the design, the router is bulky and is designed to work only in the vertical position, it's two antenna are sticking up making it possibly the tallest router I've ever seen. None the less, it's got some curves and actually looks really elegant. On the front you can find a clearly labeled LED status light. On the back its ports are also clearly labeled. The Belkin N+ has a unique feature called Broadband Download Speedometer, which includes an array of lights on top front of the router; this is helpful if you want to quickly find out how much of the band width to the Internet is being used at a given time. The N+ also has some network storage features, you can stick a hard drive to this USB port and make the storage available to computer InterNetwork; this is a simple and limited network storage solution that offers no access control. Everyone has full access to the entire hard drive's content. What I like the best about the N+ is where it matters the most, RAM's and speed. By far, the N+ offers the longest range, in testing we could pick up its signal from 400 feet away, with most routers we can not pick up the signal at further than 300 feet. The throughput speed of the N+ was also consistently very high, even in long range. The Belkin N+ costs around $400.00, which is a very good deal considering what it has to offer. This router is possibly the best deal in the market right now. You can read more about it in the full review at CNET.com. Once again my name is Dong Ngo and this has been the first look at the N+ Wireless Router from Belkin. ^E00:02:10
