I'm Rich Brown, Senior Editor for cnet.com.
Today, we're gonna take a look at Apple's 21.5-inch Imac.
This is the most affordable model an Apple's updated Imac line.
It comes with the 2.4 giga hertz Intel core i5 CPU as well as the new Thunderbolt input, which in the future will allow very fast connectivity between the external devices and the system.
For now, this is the very fast, very good looking all in one for a relatively affordable price.
You can see that the design hasn't change
in design actually from the previous model; so, as the same aluminum and glass construction.
We also like the display quite a bit.
It's very bright and the 1920 x 1080 resolution ensure you'll get full quality HD video.
So most of the features of the Imac are the same, it comes with the wireless mouse and keyboard.
Up here we have the web cam and the new Imac-- it's actually FaceTime compatible.
You might be familiar with that from your iPhone or your iPad and lets you video chat between devices.
On the side of the Imac, there is also the SD card slot as well as the DVD burner.
Now you can see the one external change to the Imac in the
back of the case, right here is the brand new Thunderbolt port that replaces the mini display port that used to be on the older Imac.
Now Thunderbolt is actually mini display port compatible, but it also allows for all kinds of other data connection.
There are no Thunderbolts devices out there just yet, but in the near future we expected external storage, video hubs, as well as other devices.
Probably the beginning of the geared mostly for professionals.
Data ports in the back remain the same as before.
You get 2 audio ports, 4 USB 2.0, as well as FireWire 800 output.
There is also an internet port here
and built in of course is 802.11n wireless.
Now you'll find the Windows all in one as the same price ranges as the 1199 Imac and they come in Blu-ray drive, HDMI in puts, touch screen, as well as other features that make them more a little bit more digital medial friendly.
This Imac though is really geared towards professionals and anyone who needs fast performance from an all in one.
Our performance test, the Imac blew away pretty much all of its Windows basic competition.
You might still get a little bit more performance side of a standard desktop, but you certainly won't get the good looks.
