Alexa tell me the weather forecast for tomorrow.
Tomorrow in San Fransisco.>> Amazon Alexa voice system is slowly spreading onto the phones it comes to the HTC U11 which is best known to be a high end phone you can squeeze.
Will Alexa kick off a turf war with Google Assistant, which is also on Android phones like the U 11?
Like Google Assistant, you can can make HTC's Alexa app pop up any time, even when the phone is locked.
Alexa will answer questions about the weather, play music through Amazon Music, and access all of Alexa's skills.
Just like on an Amazon Echo device.
And yes that includes using it to remote controller your smart home, even if you don't have an echo in the living room.
Alexa, give me my fast news, you can do the usual stuff like, ask how far away or how tall something is, and of course buy things from Amazon using only your voice.
Listen to [UNKNOWN] Is not supported on this device.
So here's what it can't do.
THe Alexa app won't show text-based results like Google Assistant and Apple's Siri do, so you have to be a good listener.
But there is a history of your searches in the Alexa app.
Alexa for phones won't let you stream music yet from Spotify or Pandora, or set an alarm, timer, or reminder.
Even more confusing, the Alexa app says that you can.
It's talking about your echo speaker, not your phone.
In fact HTC's Alexa for your phone isn't tied to your phone settings at all, so you won't be able to dictate a message or turn on Bluetooth with your voice.
As Alexa expands onto more phones, it's likely Amazon will be able to tie into your device at a deeper level and match most of what Alexa Echo can do.
