The LG Infinia LW9500 is the company's flagship LCD television this year, and it promises a significant boost in performance over last year's exciting-but-flawed LX9500. The key technology here is the "Nano Full LED" array, which is covered with an extremely thin film that is printed with a light dispersion pattern. This system is designed to create a uniform brightness level across the set.

Unlike last year's model, the LW9500 now includes an "Anti-Reflection Panel" to minimise distracting reflections from external light sources, which means you don't need to watch it with the lights off.

The LW9500 also boasts improved localised dimming in both 2D and 3D with the company's Micro Pixel Control system, which now includes 288 local dimming blocks.

The new Infinia boasts a whole range of entertainment options, which includes the new Smart TV system. LG's Smart TV promises "limitless content, thousands of movies, customisable apps, videos and the web" using a Windows-like environment and a new air mouse-like Magic Controller. Customers will also be able to access their own content stored on the network via compatibility with Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA).

The LG LW9500 will be available in 50- and 60-inch models from Q2 2011, with prices to be announced.
