In brief

We live in an age where an inkjet printer that can sing the Malawi national anthem, dance the Macarena, print, copy and fax costs less than a three-course meal at a hatted restaurant. So spending AU$149 on an entry-level laser printer does seem a bit of an extravagance, but there's no doubting that the output of laser printers look more professional. Oh, and the pages come out so nice and warm.

Measuring 360x389x197mm, the entry-level 1130 spits out a quoted 18 A4 pages per minute — pages with normal quantities of text and graphics will no doubt come out slower than this, though. Maximum print resolution is 600x600 dots per inch, and the in tray can fit 250 pages, while the out tray can hold 80 pages.

Step up to the networked model, the 1130n, and the quoted page per minute count rises to 24. Move on up to the multifunction 1133n and you gain the ability to scan and copy, as well as print at 22 pages per minute.

The 1130 is on sale now through the Dell website for AU$149, with the 1130n going for AU$169 and the 1133n retailing at AU$199.
