Starting point

Yelp opens up to a simple icon-based dashboard. From here, you can see your profile, friends, check-ins, deals, or start a keyword search.

Search filters

With Yelp's incredible database, it's a bit disappointing that the app only comes with three filters (price, distance, and Open Now). In future versions, I'd love to see the ability to filter by neighborhood or by specific amenities.

Explore menus

Yelp's newest feature lets you explore the menus of select restaurants, right from within the app's interface. No more navigating to Web sites or downloading PDF files.

Yelp for Android lets you view, Like, and even submit your own photos to a restaurant's or business' page.

Augmented reality

Yelp's Monocle is a neat feature that overlays ratings and other pertinent information on your camera view. Unfortunately, it can sometimes point you in the wrong direction.

Keep track of deals

From Yelp's Deals screen, you can see check-in deals nearby and those you have saved up from previous check-ins.
