The $799 (about £600 or AU$1,050) crowd-designed Eve V ("Vee," not five) takes on the Microsoft Surface Pro and manages to hold its own. The two-in-one features competitive pricing, fanless aluminium design and a brilliant display.

The rear of the Eve V is clean and simple.

The kickstand keeps the V standing, but it's not really that good on the lap.

The hinges are sturdy and can do up to 135 degrees.

The fingerprint sensor on the power button makes turning on and signing in to the V a super quick affair.

The backlit keyboard features multi-color lighting.

The other side features a 3.5mm audio jack, two USB Type-C ports (one also works as a Thunderbolt display out) and another USB port.

It's slightly thicker with the keyboard attached.

Word of warning though, the alcantara fabric is quite the magnet for pet fur.
