Qik Flick

Skype's newest app, Qik, is what Skype would look like if they invented it for today's smartphone world. Instead of hosting a live video chat, you send quick video messages that your friends can view at any time.

The app's main screen shows you current conversations. You can swipe left to delete any of them.

Swipe down from the top of the home screen to record a new message, no longer than 42 seconds.

Once you're done, you can send your message to any of your contacts in the app.

In each conversation, you'll see the latest message at the top, followed by a row of previous messages.

Don't have time to send a new message? There's a feature called Qik Flick that lets you send five-second long message reactions that you record yourself.
