Smartsleeve?

The Portal is a 6-inch flexible-screen smartphone currently being crowdfunded on Indiegogo that slides into a custom arm cradle for those with active, connected lifestyles. So far as we can tell, it's not a hoax.

"Current wearable offerings and even the new Apple Watch are just too small to text on or do anything really practical," Brandon Mairs, founder of startup Arubixs, told CNET via email.

Out of the cradle

Portal's creators stress that it's not just a wearable, but a fully functional flexible phone that slides into a wearable case.

"It's a smartphone you can wear," Brandon Mairs of startup Arubixs told CNET. "So when the phone is not in the cradle it's just a thin, 6-inch smartphone that's flexible, water resistant and shatterproof."
