Ion's brand new Wi-Fi security camera costs $130, or £150 in the UK (Australian availability has not been announced, but would be about AU$150 converted).
It has a corresponding Android and iOS app.
The Android app is optimized for phones, so tablet-owners might be out of luck.
But, I was able to get it set up on a Samsung Galaxy S5 and an iPhone 5 with little effort.
Ion provides optional hardware if you want to mount the camera.
And it comes with a wall adapter to power the device.
Unlike many DIY security cameras, Ion the Home offers a free cloud storage option.
That's 24 hours of rolling storage, meaning the oldest hour will be deleted to make room for the most recent.
From there, you will have the option to pay $10, £6 a month for seven days of storage or $30, £19 a month for 30 days of storage (similar to Dropcam's cloud services).
This camera will be available starting early November at Walmart and on Ion's online store.
At $130 or £150 Ion the Home will be competing directly with entry-level cameras, like Belkin's NetCam HD+ for $130 (£130 in the UK, and AU$170 in Australia).
