Readers, meet the Huawei Ascend G7. Huawei Ascend G7, meet our readers. Lovely.

The G7 is a metal-bodied Android phone with a huge 5.5-inch display. It has 4G LTE for fast data speeds too and comes with a more affordable price tag than many metal phones out there.

Huawei hasn't said exactly how much it'll be but said it'll be "below 269 Euro" unlocked. That equates to around £215, $355 and AU$380, based on a direct price conversion. Keep your eyes on CNET for full prices in the run up to the phone going on sale later this year.

The metal makes it feel more luxurious than most plastic-bodied phones, although the plain grey design isn't exactly the prettiest around.

The speaker is found tucked into the darker grey strip at the bottom.

Although huge, it remains quite slim.

The 5.5-inch display has a 1,920x1,080-pixel resolution. That's full HD. It looked sharp and bright in my hands on time.

There's a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. You can apply various image effects to your pics as well as shoot panoramic selfies.

The rear camera is a 13-megapixel affair which Huawei claims is "superb" in low light. We'll be the judge of that in our full review.

It runs Android KitKat, but Huawei has put its Emotion UI skin over the top.
