You will keep Gallery, iDisk, and iWeb...for a limited time

Some of the features that MobileMe users have come to expect are going to be cut down the road, but for the time being they will still be able to access Gallery, iDisk, & iWeb publishing. As of June 30, 2012, the features will no longer exist; be prepared, the day is coming.

MobileMe sync features

There are some sync features that MobileMe provided that are also getting the axe, but instead of waiting until June to cut them, once you transition to iCloud, the services no longer work.

Your Dashboard widgets, Keychains, Mail settings, and rules will no longer sync.

Make sure your devices are updated!

iCloud will not work unless your iOS devices are running iOS 5 and your Mac is up to date with OS X 10.7.2. Move your account only after you have updated all of your devices.

Check the box that states you have updated all of your devices and press Next to proceed.

Warning!

Make sure you have up-to-date PIM information such as contacts and calendars with at least one device.

Click on Move to iCloud

One last warning!

Make a back up of your contacts, calendars, and bookmarks. If something goes wonky during the transfer process, you will need this backup to restore any issues. You can back up each one by opening the respective app and going to File >Export. Save the file somewhere safe!

iCloud t's and c's

You are almost there. You have already backed up your info, and ensured all your devices are updated--now all you have left to do is accept the iCloud terms and conditions. Take a deep breath.

Congrats!

You will see a progress bar showing you exactly how the process is going. After it is all said and done you will see a screen similar to this, letting you know that you need to continue the setup process on your devices.

That's all there is to transferring your MobileMe account to iCloud. It's a bit intimidating at first but as long as you take your time, ensure everything is up to date and you have a good backup of your data, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
