After months of waiting, Samsung's new Galaxy Note 8 is here.
It pops out of a holster bored into the Note 8, just like every S Pen before it.
This phone, which is aimed at power users, is all about the S Pen stylus.
The Note 8 is also the first Samsung phone to carry a dual camera, now part of any high-end phone's arsenal of features.
What can you do with two rear cameras? How about a portrait mode?
Called Live Focus, Samsung will let you blur the background behind a subject.
You can also save and use the full-screen view, so it's like getting two photos for the price of one.
You'll take photos with two 12-megapixel cameras on the back. One's telephoto, the other wide-angle. Photos are generally excellent.
You can launch the camera by double-clicking the power button.
The S Pen has the same 0.7mm and 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity as the ill-fated Note 7.
When you pop out the S Pen, a quick menu appears. Samsung calls this Air Command.
Screen-off memo lets you write up to 100 pages without unlocking the phone.
You can handwrite notes whenever the mood strikes.
The Note 8 comes in maple gold, midnight black, deep sea blue and orchid gray, but not every country will sell every color.
The phone's glass backing is as glossy and reflective as ever. Beware of fingerprint smudges.
Wireless charging is now a Samsung standard.
The same goes for waterproofing. Both the phone body and S Pen can take a dunk; they're rated IP68.
That fingerprint reader is in an awkward location on the back, to the right of the camera.
Like the Galaxy S8 phones, the Note 8 has a button to launch the Bixby Voice app.
A pair of AKG earbuds comes in the box.
Apart from the S Pen and dual rear camera, the Note 8 is extremely similar to the S8 and S8 Plus.
Screen sizes: You have the S8 at 5.8 inches, the S8 Plus at 6.2 and the Note 8 at 6.3. There's barely a difference between the last two.
The Note 8 and S8 Plus side by side.
Compared to the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus, the Note 8 is all screen.
Both phones have two cameras on the back.
Headset jack? Why, yes, there is.
The Note 8 has a slim profile.
Let's see what else you can do.
Live Message is another new feature. It saves an animated GIF of a message you write.
You can change the background image, pen styles and ink color.
The message will replay as an animated GIF on any app that supports GIFs.
A look at the Note 8's drawing tools.
A new feature lets you open two apps with a single tap.
Called App Pair, you can link two apps that you commonly use together.
Press the button, and both apps open in split screen mode.
Because doodles are fun.
The Note 8 will work with Samsung's accessories like the Gear 360 camera, the wireless charger and Samsung Gear VR, too.
You'll find an 8-megapixel camera on the front for taking selfies.
The high-resolution screen is detailed and bright.
You can shoot and playback 4K video.
The Galaxy Note 8 works with the Samsung DeX dock accessory.
Samsung's Note family has grown through the years.
The Galaxy Note 8 will cost a bundle, but you'll also be able to buy it with a bundled gift if you preorder.
