Yack Media Services, an online event guide, says it has appointed Ian Ross as vice president of sales. Prior to joining Yack, Ross held a similar position at Travelocity.com; he also worked at Travelocity's parent company, Sabre, where he was responsible for the syndication of travel-related sponsorships and services, according to the company. Ross previously worked in executive sales positions at IDG, The Washington Post and Softbank Interactive Marketing. Yack also said it has promoted Liza Folberth, formerly vice president of sales, to senior director of sales and of its event producer network.
In April, Yack's chief executive, Jeff Morris, resigned after the Manhattan-based company cut about 40 percent of its staff. Yack licenses its Internet program guide to companies including EarthLink, Showtime and Excite.com.
