Microsoft has quietly released a second service pack for its Service Pack 2, or SP2, for Windows Server 2003 is also designed to enhance network performance, remote installation, IPSec manageability, Microsoft Management Console support, virtualization, SQL Server performance and wireless security.. The hefty update--at least 350 megabytes, depending on the processor architecture--includes a large number of bug fixes.
Microsoft has also released a "Hotfix Scan Tool" intended to be used with SP2 deployment. The software is designed to scan for updates that could potentially regress to their unpatched state after SP2 is installed.
