YouTube geek culture commentator Neafcy of The Unwashed Mass has a theory on which people are the biggest geeks of all — and it has nothing to do with tech or gaming.

What are the characteristics of geek culture? Off the top of our heads, we'd say that fandom is where it starts; then perhaps knowledge of, or interest in accruing knowledge of, the intricate details of the object of fandom; almost obsessively following any new updates, developments and episodes.

Then there is the community; get-togethers where geeks can share their mutual love, including conventions, LARPing and dedicated online forums.

But why is it only applied to things that are less physical, such as video games, role playing, television and comics? Neafcy thinks that the definition could be expanded, and, after watching his explanation, we'd have to agree.

If you want to subscribe to his YouTube channel (and you should, because it's brilliant), you can find it here.
