We love video games. We love the way they make us think differently. The way we saw the world as a collection of geometric blocks after too many hours playing Tetris on the original Gameboy. Or how The Sims turned us into social puppetmasters trying to amass relationship points by hugging others.
Those who have been gaming for years feel a certain fondness for their favourite titles and characters. From Alex Kidd in Miracle World to Master Chief, the inhabitants of these virtual realms have guided us through obstacles, boss battles and the nonsensical infliction of violence toward thrilling conclusions and callused thumbs.
In this week's Whaddyareckon? we pay tribute to the best games and characters of all time and also ponder the question: What would games look like if they were transferred to the real world?
