A federal judge's order barring the Minnesota's Public Utility Commission from regulating Internet phone provider Vonage is now expected out Tuesday. Federal District Court Judge Michael J. Davisearlier this week after a three-hour hearing. He said to expect a written explanation on Friday. Davis's office did not provide a reason for the delay.
For Internet phone providers, this means another few days' waiting and speculating about why Vonage had a more resounding victory than hoped for when it first filed its lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis. Vonage Chief Financial Officer John Rego said Vonage wanted a temporary injunction to give it time to figure out itsnext move. But Davis "made it permanent," Rego said.
