ViewSonic V350 Android 2.2 phone uses two SIM cards at once

Meet the V350 smart phone from ViewSonic, an Android 2.2 mobile that can accommodate two SIM cards at once, so you can switch between networks. It has a few other tricks too...

Those of us wallowing through the hellish mire that is working life will know it can be tricky to keep our business and personal lives separate. Luckily the ViewSonic V350 could be the mobile for you, thanks to its dual-SIM abilities.

Yes folks, running Android version 2.2, this sultry smart phone is a dual-SIM device, which means you can stick two SIM cards in at the same time, and choose which one you want to use. That could be useful if you need to take things offline and switch into family mode for a while, or if you frequently travel abroad, you could even have a SIM dedicated to roaming that you switch to when you leave the country.

It could even prove useful if you're sick of never having any reception -- pop in a cheeky backup pay as you go SIM on a different network and next time those precious signal bars are depleted, just switch to your fallback.

ViewSonic reckons it would also be useful for companies who want to provide employees with a phone that offers separate numbers and bills for personal and business uses, which is just about the most joyless use for a gadget ever devised.

Red-hot SIM-on-SIM action is definitely the headline feature, but the V350 should prove a capable little mobile in other respects too. Android 2.2 is great to see -- that means you'll get Flash support in the browser, and access to a tonne of apps via the Android Market.

There's a 3.5-inch capacitive display, and a 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus, a microSD card slot so you can expand the available memory, plus Wi-Fi connectivity and GPS navigation. Natty.

So far that picture above is all we have to go on, so we're curious to see what other tricks the V350 has up its silvery sleeves. ViewSonic has stated we'll be seeing more of the V350 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which kicks off on 14 February, so check back next week when our intrepid team of tech journalists will be elbowing their way through the crowds to nab a sneaky hands-on.
