Uncle Sam on tech's cutting edge

A News.com reader writes that the federal government is no longer the "slow-moving behemoth" that many people think it is.

Uncle Sam on tech's cutting edge

In response to the June 26 column by William Loomis, "When boring is best":

Your article is right on target. I have been selling and marketing products to the federal government for almost 30 years and have thoroughly enjoyed my career.

The government is no longer the "slow-moving behemoth" that many people think it might be. It is on the cutting edge of technology, and procurement reforms now allow our government to procure COT products at highly competitive prices.

I am not sure if you remember the days of two- to three-year RFP award cycles; thank god they are gone. Private industry, government and the citizens of the United States are resultant big winners.
