A plan featuring the Walt Disney World park in Florida will be available in the first quarter of this year, the companies said Monday. Travelocity will offer packages including airfare, rooms at any Disney hotels and admission to the theme parks. Packages for Disneyland in California will be available later this year.
Financial details of the deal were not available.
Until now, Disney had sold tickets and hotel bookings online through its own Web site. Travelocity said it was the first online retailer to get direct access to the Disney bookings.
Packages had been available through wholesalers before this and were readily available offline. But booking hotel reservations and buying tickets individually can be cheaper than buying packages.
Travelocity has been beefing up its site. It announced awith Northwest Airlines last week and recently launched new "travel storefronts" pages for hotels, airfare and other products.
"Having the opportunity to dynamically package Disney vacations is a monumental achievement," CEO Terrell Jones said in a release. "We have tremendous customer demand for Disney's products."
