News Corp's Fox television network is offering a special spin-off series of its show "Prison Break" on mobile phones with advertising from Toyota.
The new series called "Prison Break: Proof of Innocence" will initially have 26 episodes, each two-minutes in length. The mobisodes will be available for free to Sprint cell phone customers signed up for the carrier's video service. The show will also be available on Toyota.com.
This isn't the first time Fox has created a cell phone version of a popular TV show. The network has also produced mobisodes for fans of its action show "24". But the "Prison Break" obisodes will be the first the network has produced that will be supported by advertising.
Each of the mobisodes will start with a 10-second advertisement for Toyota's Yaris, a "sub-compact" sedan, according to a story in The Wall Street Journal. The WSJ article estimated the advertising deal with Toyota to be worth about $10 million.
