Tiffany & Co. will relaunch a Web site on Nov. 26 that includes jewelry priced as high as $18,000, the exclusive jewelry retailer said in a statement tonight.
It marks the latest foray by a brick-and-mortar retailer--in this case, one of the most famous names in retailing--into e-commerce. Internet-only companies such as Ashford.com already are trying to enter the luxury goods market.
"The modern, easy-to-navigate site will offer greater access to information about the company, its history and products, and include a shopping section," Tiffany said. The plan was announced tonight at a meeting of security analysts and investors.
The redesigned Web site will include information on buying and caring for jewelry, financial information, Tiffany's history--and a shopping section.
"The Web site's new shopping section will include 228 products and focus primarily on jewelry," Tiffany said in a statement. "Visitors to the site may choose from a range of the company's renowned jewelry designs from a purchase price of $75 to $18,000. A selection of crystal, tableware and gift items will also be available."
