While Halloween is filled with both tricks and treats for millions of kids around the world, it's all treats from J.K. Rowling.

Rowling's site Pottermore announced on Friday that a new short story set in the " Harry Potter" universe will be available for free on the site on Halloween.

The story will focus on Dolores Umbridge, a witch and one-time Hogwarts professor who first appeared in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix." Umbridge is noteworthy in that she's the only character in the series other than Lord Voldemort who left a permanent physical mark on series protagonist Harry Potter.

"Umbridge is not only one of the most malicious Potter characters, she is the only person other than Lord Voldemort to leave a permanent physical scar on Harry," the release posted to Pottermore.com reads. "The new exclusive J.K. Rowling content provides a rich, 1,700-word back story about Umbridge's life filled with many new details, as well as Rowling's revealing first-person thoughts and reflections about the character."

The release is the first short story posted since Rowling released a biography of the Singing Sorceress in August. Rowling has also released a short story about Harry Potter as a 34-year-old.
