The Mona Wookiee? Chewbacca reimagined as fine art

Artist Christine Parisi paints "Star Wars" portraits fit for the walls of the Louvre and the Millennium Falcon. Chewbacca steps in as a muse for famous artwork.

Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa," Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring," a Vincent van Gogh self-portrait, and even an early painting of Queen Elizabeth I have all gotten the Wookiee treatment thanks to artist Christine Parisi.

In her paintings, Parisi replaces well-known muses for the beloved Millennium Falcon co-pilot, Chewbacca. While the hairy hero is no stranger to fan art, this takes him to an all-new level of appreciation.

Seeing Chewbacca in drag as Mona Lisa, Queen Elizabeth I and even as the Girl with a Pearl Earring makes us wonder if perhaps the Wookiee should trade in his famous bandolier for a glamorous gown.

Other hairy homages include Chewbacca as Sherlock Holmes, author Hunter S. Thompson and the Klingon Worf from "Star Trek: The Next Generation."

In fact, if fans have suggestions for more Wookiee art tributes, the artist is taking requests on her Facebook page. Personally, I think the world needs a Salvador Dali-Chewbacca mashup right now. Hint hint.
