As part of an ongoing effort to differentiate its services from other Net access providers, UUNet Technologies has signed a deal with advertising conglomerate True North Communications to provide Internet marketing services.
With the deal, True North companies like worldwide ad agency Foote, Cone & Belding will be able to collaborate long distance with clients on Web site design and management using tools developed jointly by TN Technologies, a branch of True North, and UUNet. In addition, UUNet servers will host all Web sites for True North clients.
The companies are touting the agreement as the first such deal between a major Internet access provider and a marketing agency. UUNet merged with national backbone provider MFS Communications in late April.
