Syfy picks up Superman prequel 'Krypton' pilot

The series is intended to focus on the Man of Steel's grandparents, and will be executive produced by David S. Goyer.

Syfy has officially ordered the pilot for "Krypton", a Superman prequel first reported in 2014 about Superman's grandfather. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the House of El patriarch has been cast into dishonour, and it is against these odds that he fights to save his home world.

David S. Goyer is set to executive produce alongside "Sleepy Hollow's" Damian Kindler, who will also serve as showrunner. Goyer has made a name for himself on superhero properties, having penned Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" films, as well as "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice".

This doesn't mean the show will definitely happen, though. First Syfy will have to view the pilot and sign off on a full season. As we saw with the failed 2011 Wonder Woman pilot, that doesn't always happen.
