QuiText is a new service that aims to help smokers through the stages of quitting smoking via a text message support program.
For a AU$20 registration fee, you will receive a daily SMS message to your mobile phone providing support and encouragement from ex-smokers about problems you will likely be facing at specific times. The texts include help and advice on dealing with cravings and smoking habits, as well as tips on how to start living as a non-smoker.
You'll need to tell QuiText when to set your Quit Date and what time of day to send your messages. Once started, your SMS support messages will arrive daily for six weeks.
As part of the program, you can download one of QuiText's desktop wallpapers for your PC that feature slogans like "I need to stop smoking because it's stupid". You can also add its "Quit Meter" to your blog or Web page that will track how many days you've been smoke free, the number of cigarettes forgone, and how much money you've saved.
With Father's Day coming up, you may want to consider helping Dad quit, as gift vouchers are available for the service. You can even add your own personal message of encouragement to help him kick the smoking habit. For more information see the QuiText Web site.
