The MultiMediaCard Association announced Thursday it has made progress in finalizing a high-speed MultiMediaCard format. MultiMediaCard is a removable flash memory card. The current specification has gone to the standards group's members for approval, which may occur within 60 days. The high-speed specification will allow transmission speeds of up to 52MB per second.
The group's more than 100 member companies will determine product launches on an individual basis. Member companies include the likes of Eastman Kodak, Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi, Ingentix (formerly Infineon Technologies), Lexar Media, Micron Technology, Nokia, Samsung Electronics, SanDisk and Sanyo Electric.
