The special December 11 online auction is a partnership between the auction house and renowned Japanese fashion designer and entrepreneur Nigo, a superfan who has spent decades collecting action figures, plush toys, trading cards, lightsaber and helmet replicas inspired by overheated trade conflicts in a galaxy far, far away.
"As a designer, I have always been inspired by Star Wars. I am honored to be launching this sale and hope that it will bring excitement to Star Wars fans around the world," Nigo said in a statement released by Sotheby's Tuesday (PDF).
While the auction could fetch well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars in total based on Sotheby's estimated sales prices, the estimated winning bids for the 175 total lots range from $100 (AU$140, £66) to an estimated $35,000 (AU$49,165, £23,008). Up for grabs are over 600 action figures in total, autographed lightsaber replicas and a Jabba the Hutt cookie jar. Double sweet.
Looks like it's time to go through the attic to see if you held on to any.
