Sony factory now belongs to Solectron

Contract manufacturer Solectron has completed its acquisition of Sony's factory in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, the companies said Friday. The acquisition is part of a broader agreement announced by the companies in October. Milpitas, Calif.-based Solectron has gained 130,000 square feet of manufacturing capacity. In addition, about 750 Sony employees transfer to Solectron. The facility will be used to build consumer electronics products such as cordless phones, radios, lithium-ion battery packs and infrared receivers.
