The TigerStack stackable hubs come with the first fully Integrated Switch Module on the market, the company said.
This provides up to four segments of Fast Ethernet switching within the stack itself, eliminating the need for an external switch. As a result, the price is half that of a traditional switch, the company said.
Each stack is fully segmentable to 16 Fast Ethernet segments per stack and scalable up to 1.6 gigabits of aggregate bandwidth.
Also, for users requiring a complete Fast Ethernet solution with greater segmentation and switching capabilities, SMC has also introduced the TigerSwitch 100, offering eight ports of Fast Ethernet connectivity with support for both cut-through and store-and-forward switching, resulting in full wire-speed transmission.
The TigerStack 100BaseTX Hub-12 port version is priced at $1,990 and will be available this month. The TigerStack 100BaseTX Hub-24 port version is priced at $3,590.
The TigerStack 100BaseT4 Hub-12 port version has a price of $2,400 and is scheduled to ship in November.
The TigerSwitch 100 is priced at $6,400.
