SyQuest signed a three-year agreement with Compaq to include the former's 1GB Sparq removable cartridge hard drive into machines made under Compaq's newly announced configure-to-order scheme. The agreement with the world's largest PC maker is a significant win for SyQuest, at the expense of Iomega. High-capacity cartridge drives like the Sparq and the Zip drive are increasingly replacing floppies.
