Short Take: Survey indicates strong technology spending through 2000

According to a survey by Cowen & Company, a technology research and investment banking firm, and Datamation magazine, an information technology publication, overall technology spending will rise 10 percent annually through 2000. The strong growth is attributed to a push towards intranet architecture, a rush to solve the Year 2000 problem, and the rapid growth of Microsoft's Windows NT operating system. Complete results of the survey, which polled some 1,200 Datamation readers, will be printed in the magazine's December 1997 issue.
