Short Take: Substantial growth seen in flat-panel monitors

Research firm Stanford Resources predicts in a report released today that flat panel monitor growth will accelerate sharply during the next five years as such issues as LCD panel supply and interface usage are solved. The organization predicts the worldwide market for desktop and workstation flat-panel monitors will grow from 7 million units in 2000 to 63.4 million units in 2006. The overall unit penetration rate of flat panel monitors as a percentage of the total desktop and workstation monitor market is predicted to increase from 3.8 percent in 2000 to 31.6 percent in 2006.
