Short Take: Spanish-language sports site cuts staff

SportsYA.com said it laid off a quarter of its staff to cut costs and reach profitability. The site, which publishes online information in Spanish about sports in Latin America, also said it raised $10 million in financing from IMG/Chase Sports Capital and from Flatiron Partners, among other investors. The Miami-based company, founded in November 1998, now employs 150 in the United States and internationally.
