Short Take: RCA manufacturer to produce TiVo-ready recorders

Another consumer-electronics maker says it will begin selling a digital video recorder that incorporates TiVo's service. Thomson Multimedia, which manufactures and markets consumer-electronics products under the RCA brand name, plans to introduce TiVo recorders through RadioShack stores in November. The recorders will offer 20 hours of recording capacity and sell for $299. In addition, TiVo is currently offering a $100 rebate on the boxes. TiVo's service allows people to digitally record TV shows without videotape. Sony and Royal Philips Electronics already make digital video recorders that use TiVo's service.
