Compaq Computer, Intel, Microsoft, Phoenix Technologies and Toshiba announced they had agreed on new power management standards covering a variety of computer systems. Version 2.0 of the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) extends the specifications to cover enterprise servers, desktops and notebook PCs. ACPI 2.0 adds support for 64-bit processors and multiple processors.
